This American classic was recommended to me by my former teacher about seven years ago and I just now picked this up from my shelf. This novella is focused on the theme of powerlessness of the working class, and is apparently a recurring theme in John Steinbeck’s work of the late 1930s. One of the most interesting aspects of the book was that the antagonist was Society itself, emphasizing the isolation the two protagonists, George and Lennie, seemingly felt. It is an easy read for a classic, so I would recommend this to everyone. I really enjoyed the content and style, and rate this book a 8/10.
